First Lady Shirley Ann Moore was born in Detroit, Michigan, the youngest of six children to the late Bishop G.M. Boone, D.D. & Lady Mae Dee Boone. Raised in a legacy of faith, Shirley was baptized in the Name of Jesus and filled with the precious Holy Ghost at the tender age of 8 years old at her father’s church, The New Liberty Apostolic Faith Church. That her beloved father, Bishop Boone, was praying with her when she received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost, is one of her cherished memories.

At the age of 12, her father anointed her hands to play the organ, and miraculously she was endowed with an ability to begin to play on the same day. At 13 she began to play the organ regularly for her father’s church. Throughout her teens and early 20’s young Shirley worked tirelessly with great diligence at her home church in multiple capacities. She served as the Minister of Music of the New Liberty Apostolic Faith Church for many years.  An Anointed musician and choir director, she also was blessed with perfect pitch, and  has composed numerous songs through the years.

A product of the Detroit Public Schools, Shirley graduated from Henry Ford High School in 1977.  She attended Wayne State in Detroit, Michigan.

Over more than 4 decades, Sis. Shirley was very instrumental in helping her father to build the Apostolic Assemblies of Christ (church reformation). She has served that august body as Minister of Music for 42 years; she is a proud charter member, a member of the Board of Trustees, and the Convention Planner for the organization. Dr. Moore served and honored her parents until they went to Glory and today, she continues to honor their legacy!

The author of a Book entitled “Music Is A Ministry,” in 1994 she was honored to receive an Honorary Doctorate degree for her significant contributions to the Kingdom!

A phenomenal conference and event planner, a gifted hotel negotiator, and a banquet promoter second to none, First Lady Moore is an organizer and Kingdom leader par excellence who believes in working in excellence at whatever her hands find to do!

On October 25, 1986, she married (then) Elder Mark A. Moore, Sr., and they have shared their lives for the past 38 years – “for richer or poorer…for better or worse.” She is the very proud Mother of three gifted, anointed, and accomplished young adults: Pastor Mark Moore, Jr., Deacon George Moore, and Sister Alise Moore. That all three of her children are serving the Lord in various capacities is a testament to the legacy of unfeigned faith that she has passed to the next generation. She is her children’s staunchest ally and supporter in all they do.

Among her many joys over the years has been serving her husband’s churches. First Lady Moore delighted in being the First Lady of Zion Temple Church in Havre de Grace, Maryland for 8 years; was beloved as the First Lady of Faith Covenant Church of Jesus Christ in Atlanta, Georgia for 26 years; and now considers it an honor to serve as the First Lady of Indiana Avenue Pentecostal Church of God in Chicago, Illinois. Since coming to Indiana Avenue, Lady Moore has brought her energy, enthusiasm and spirit of excellence to multiple areas of the ministry. On her husband’s first Sunday as pastor in Chicago, she coined the phrase: “Rebuilding God’s House.” And since that day has worked tirelessly to do just that. She has revitalized the Women’s Ministry into one of the most creative and vibrant ministries in the church, now known as the “Women of Purpose.” With her infectious smile, loving heart, wise words, willing hands, Lady Moore has in a short time come to embody the ‘fragrance of the House.’
