Mark A. Moore, Sr.
Bishop Mark A. Moore, Sr. is a passionate preacher, a fervent worshiper, and a concerned shepherd. He proudly serves as the fourth pastor of the historic Indiana Avenue Pentecostal Church of God in Chicago, Illinois. A dynamic and visionary leader, Bishop Moore is known for his ability to bridge the intellectual and the spiritual, challenging the mind while inspiring the heart.

Bishop Moore is a graduate of the prestigious Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts (AB ’85, cum laude). Although he had contemplated studying Law, he felt led to major in the Comparative Study of World Religions with a focus on the literature of Ancient Judaism and Early Christianity. Little did he know that the Lord was laying a scholarly foundation for his future ministry. It was in his third year of study that he acknowledged a Call to Preach. Ordered Steps.
A native of Seattle, Washington, Bishop Moore is a fourth generation Apostolic Pentecostal Preacher, son of the late Bishop Benjamin T. and Dr. Willa Moore. Forever grateful for his godly heritage and upbringing, Bishop Moore learned from his sainted parents to love God and to joyfully serve His people. In fact, he remembers as a child, hearing his father pray at the altar one day and feeling the burden his father had for the children of God, he asked the Lord that day to let the burden of his father fall on him. The Lord honored his request and from that day, God prepared him for the task.
Bishop Moore’s character and ministry have been shaped by rich and varied experiences across almost four decades of full-time service. The journey has included serving as Pastoral Assistant to his father in Indianapolis, Indiana at Christ Temple (the Mother Church of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World); and in Baltimore, Maryland at Greater Bethlehem Temple under the Honorable Bishop James Nelson, Sr. Additionally, Bishop Moore has traveled as a full-time National Evangelist.
Before accepting the call to Indiana Avenue Pentecostal Church of God, Bishop Moore had the joy and privilege of leading two great churches: Zion Temple Apostolic Church in Havre de Grace, Maryland (1992 – 2000), and Faith Covenant Church of Jesus Christ in Atlanta, GA (1996 – 2022, Founder). In each place Bishop Moore left a legacy of growth, changed lives, strong leaders, and life-long, loving relationships.
A sought-after speaker – nationally and internationally – for worship services, conferences and revivals, Bishop Moore is also the founder of the ‘You Can Get There From Here’ Visionaries Conference – a gathering of hundreds of Pastors, Leaders and Entrepreneurs from across the nation for encouragement, exposure and empowerment. His popular devotional, “Provisions for the Journey,” has become a consecration classic read and re-read annually by many.
For almost 37 years, Bishop Moore has shared his life and love with the anointed, dynamic, energetic, and lovely Lady Shirley Moore. Together they are the proud parents of Pastor Mark A. Moore, Jr., Deacon George D. Moore, and Sis. Sharon Alise Moore. It is with great excitement that Bishop and Lady Moore, with the support of their family embark upon this new chapter, believing God for Miracles at 35th Street!
